VILLAGE OF BREWSTER POLICE DEPARTMENT
We, the members of the Village of Brewster Police Department, are committed to excellence in Law Enforcement as well as to the people, property, traditions and diversity of our Village. Our mission is to be the model of excellence in policing by working in partnership with the community. In order to protect life and property, prevent crime, maintain order and reduce the fear of crime, we will provide service with understanding, speedy response, compassion, performance with honor and integrity as well as community integration. To improve the quality of life for all who live within our community.
These values guide the daily operations of this Department and the highest ethical standards of conduct of its members. These are our fundamental beliefs from which our agency sets its policy, procedures, services and programs. Values set standards for our members in executing their public safety duties.
New York State Police Reform and
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced new guidance for the New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative, which was established by the Governor's Executive Order in June 2020. The guidance offers a framework and topics for consideration by all New York State Police Departments, elected officials and citizens as they develop their local plans for reform.
Per the Governor's Executive Order 203, every locality must adopt a plan for reform by April 1, 2021 to be eligible for future state funding.
In accordance with this order, the Village of Brewster Police Department has assembled a panel which is performing a comprehensive review of our policies, procedures and practices.

We believe that the men and woman of the Village of Brewster Police Department are a model for what a community-based police department should be and we commend each member for all that they do to serve this community.
