Pedi-Cab
Eric Johnson representing himself has requested permission to operate a pedi-cab in the Village of Brewster. The Village Attorney, and Village Consultant have researched the issue and brought it to the Board’s attention that a pedi-cab business is not clearly applicable to existing Taxi Law, rules, and regulations. In fact, there are several types of livery businesses exempt from the Taxi Law and other may be made so by resolution of the Board. In this instance, since this is the first request of its kind, the Village will use existing local law, regulation by resolution, and New York State Code to allow the business to operate for a period of one year. At the end of this one year period, the Board may revisit the resolution and apply different standards that may be more beneficial for the Village residents and pedi-cab passengers..
